ABOUT OUR FOUNDER
Passionate About Inspiring Others
Dr. Sarah J. Price Rosen is the founder and CEO of Cypher Genealogy, LLC, located in Massachusetts, USA. She has a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Biology and Chemistry from Denison University, a PhD in Molecular Genetics from Marshall University, and has attended a two-year clinical fellowship in Clinical Molecular Genetics at Boston University School of Medicine. She has earned certificates in Genealogical Studies and Investigative Genetic Genealogy.
A native southerner, she grew up on a 150-acre farm with her parents and grandmother. Her grandmother, Golda Augusta Good, was a former teacher in a one room school house and amateur botanist. She encouraged Dr. Rosen's curiosity in genetics and molecular innovation. Dr. Rosen helped her grandmother carry out grafting experiments where, in one case, created a single tree that bore two different varieties of apples.

Dr. Rosen has worked in the clinical sector, performing DNA analysis using hundreds of different types of assays to determine the carrier status and the paternity of her clients. Considered a DNA expert and diagnostic strategist, she has used innovative approaches to design assays for several genetic disorders. As a graduate student, Dr. Rosen identified a gene for a recessive form of Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). Dr. Rosen has been an educator for over a decade and many of her former students are nurses, doctors, and researchers.
Dr. Rosen has always had a passion for family history. She is an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of many genealogical societies including the Association of Professional Genealogists and the National Genealogical Society. She is currently compiling a detailed genealogy of the Fletcher/Good family of Virginia.
Her company, Cypher Genealogy, LLC, performs traditional historical genealogy with the acquisition of source documents as well as genetic genealogy to reconstruct family histories, finding birth parents, or resolving probate disputes. She enjoys educating amateur genealogists on research strategy and overcoming brick walls.
Dr. Rosen has a passion for both American and British history. She specializes in Jewish genealogy, Northeast and Southern genealogy, adoption and paternity resolution, investigative genetic genealogy, migration patterns as well as research for many other ethnicities and countries.
Cypher Genealogy, LLC, is a growing business and would like to move into the area of forensic genealogy to help identify the remains of approximately 250,000 individuals and return them to their families.
